Growing Up Strong

Sixteen percent of all teens and children in the United States are overweight (CDCP). Growing up Strong, a project of the University of Kansas Medical Center’s Preventive Medicine and Public Health Department, uses technology to help kids make healthier choices. CRN developed the software for a hand-held computer that teens carry with them, like an IPOD or cell phone. They use the software to:

• Learn about healthy lifestyle choices
• Set goals to improve their choices
• Provide input if they met their goals.

The kids like it because it’s easy to use and it helps them achieve their goals – and it’s cool!
